Did you know that tradespeople work in health? Jobs that might seem to be unrelated to health care or are “behind the scenes” are important.

They are needed in order to provide front line services to patients. Tradespeople provide maintenance for facilities including hospitals, community health centres and private clinics.

Reliable electricity needs to be maintained so that equipment can be used for surgery and diagnosing diseases. Taps and toilets need to be working. Gardens and lawns need to be kept in order. Some operating theatres need very accurate air conditioning because they need to be kept at a certain temperature. The list goes on and on……

Trades you could consider include:

  • Building and equipment maintenance
  • Carpenter
  • Electrician
  • Fitting
  • Horticulture and garden maintenance
  • Mechanical
  • Painting
  • Plumbing
